1. DEFINITION

Stability of energy potential describes the capacity of a section of the chain to make voltage and current available under the intended conditions while keeping under control variations in impedance, temperature, noise and recovery that may alter the signal. The expression does not designate an autonomous physical quantity distinct from the measurable quantities that determine it.

2. POSITION WITHIN THE THEORY*

The term does not indicate an ideal, infinite or immutable source. Every power supply and power stage possesses resistance, reactance, noise, limits and memory. Stability is therefore relative to load, level, duration, frequency and system state, and must be verified through explicit physical quantities.

Insufficient stability may manifest as compression, loss of articulation, altered balance or spatial instability. Such effects require characterisation and must not be attributed generically to the “power supply” without evidence.

Measurements include dynamic regulation, noise spectrum, load response, impedance versus frequency, transients, coupling and modulation between stages, and thermal behaviour. Measurement at no load or into a purely resistive load does not fully describe interaction with the real circuit and sound-radiation system.
