0. NARRATIVE FORMULATION

1. DEFINITION

The advanced spectral domain is an interpretative designation within the Lexicon that brings together analyses extending beyond the steady-state response curve alone, including harmonic structure, intermodulation, dynamic spectrum and level dependence, as well as the relations of the spectrum with phase, group delay and variation over time. It does not constitute an additional formal domain beyond the spectral domain and the other domains distinguished by the theory.

2. POSITION WITHIN THE THEORY*

The designation does not introduce a new physical category. It highlights that every spectral representation depends on window, level and signal, and that favourable average values may conceal transient, non-linear or interchannel phenomena. Phase and group delay remain descriptors belonging to distinct relations, although they contribute together with the spectrum to overall behaviour.

Timbral balance, texture, air and legibility may be influenced by spectral relations. A brighter or more detailed sound is not automatically more accurate; it may arise from emphasis or non-linear products.

Measurement must specify signal, window, resolution, level and conditions. Very low distortion on a single tone does not exclude interactions with complex signals. Perceptual correlations must be verified without assuming universal thresholds.
