0. NARRATIVE FORMULATION

1. DEFINITION

The advanced acoustic domain is an interpretative designation within the Lexicon that brings together the analysis of directivity, decay, spatial coherence, temporal uniformity, the relationship between the direct field and the reflected–diffuse field, binaural response, and interaction between radiation and environment. It does not constitute an additional formal domain of the theory.

2. POSITION WITHIN THE THEORY*

The designation does not introduce new physics. It organises phenomena requiring measurements distributed in space and time, and which may remain invisible in a single curve. Primary assessment remains referred to the compliant stereophonic listening point; analysis of a wider listening region constitutes a distinct assessment of spatial extent and robustness.

The experience may be described as immersion, openness, depth or disappearance of the loudspeakers. Such results may also be obtained through intentional alteration; their fidelity must be referred to the correctly executed stereophonic recording adopted as the reference, not to spectacular effect.

5. MEASUREMENT, EVIDENCE AND LIMITS

Measurements include angular sets, spatial maps, ETC, decays, binaural room impulse responses and tests using known spatial patterns. No universal value of the ratio between direct and reflected–diffuse field is valid for every recording, system and environment. Conclusions must distinguish primary verification at the compliant point from analysis of the listening area.

6. TRANSLATION WITHIN THE AURORA Electron Devices® TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC FRAMEWORK

Within the 'AURORA' framework, this approach links loudspeaker design, choice of loading, radiation, positioning and fine-tuning. Complete configurations are considered under real installation conditions, with the objective of stabilising reconstruction at the intended listening position and separately assessing its robustness across the listening area.

7. OPERATIONAL SUMMARY

Advanced acoustic domain = interpretative framework for the distributed spatio-temporal analysis of the field, intended to understand the availability of the cues encoded in the recording.
