1. DEFINITION

Structural isomorphism is the relationship by which a resulting representation retains, within declared tolerances, sufficient correspondence between its pertinent relationships and those of the representation adopted as the reference.

2. POSITION WITHIN THE THEORY*

Isomorphism is not an absolute property of the pattern, the recording or the signal considered in isolation. It always qualifies a relationship between two representations and with respect to a set of descriptors. Within the electroacoustic chain, it makes it possible to describe structural continuity across digital data, electrical quantities, mechanical states and acoustic pressures without postulating physical identity between domains.
