0. NARRATIVE FORMULATION

“Every conclusion holds within declared conditions, not in the abstract.”

1. DEFINITION

Once the prerequisites are satisfied, the domain of validity is the set of operating conditions and internal states within which the electroacoustic sound-reproduction system may preserve the pattern with deviations compatible with neuro-perceptual reconstruction.

2. POSITION WITHIN THE THEORY*

The theory rigorously distinguishes three levels: absolute prerequisites, which determine the admissibility of the test; controlled boundary conditions, comprising the environment, geometry, installation and listening position; and the intrinsic domain of validity of the system, referred to the signal, level, load, topology, temperature, internal state and prior history. Prerequisites and boundary conditions do not belong to the intrinsic domain, although they are necessary for the assessment to be validly performed and interpreted. High Fidelity is a condition within a declared domain, not an absolute and permanent attribute of the equipment.

4. PERCEPTUAL TRANSLATION

With the prerequisites satisfied and under admitted boundary conditions, a chain may appear plausible within certain operating conditions and lose stability or coherence when the system exceeds its domain of validity. The listener perceives the outcome, but cannot independently reconstruct the boundaries of the domain or attribute the cause without controls. Where prerequisites or boundary conditions are non-compliant, the test is inadmissible and the outcome must not be classified as the system having exceeded its intrinsic domain.

5. MEASUREMENT, EVIDENCE AND LIMITS

The domain must be parameterised to the extent required by the specific test. It is not necessary to know every variable, but those potentially confounding must be controlled or documented. A result obtained at one point does not demonstrate universal validity; a null result outside the domain does not automatically falsify a prediction internal to the domain. A result obtained with non-compliant prerequisites or boundary conditions cannot causally delimit the system’s intrinsic domain.

Within its research and installation framework, 'AURORA' defines conditions of matching, installation and setup intended both to satisfy admissibility requirements and the prescribed boundary conditions, and to place the system under examination within the relevant operating region. Compliance with those conditions forms part of system performance and is not an accessory consideration.

7. OPERATIONAL SUMMARY

Domain of validity = the declared set of operating conditions and internal states within which the system may preserve the pattern; it remains distinct from the prerequisites and boundary conditions required for the validity of the test.
